Verse 16 goes on to say raise you staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
The Lord is asking you again this year 2026, Why are you crying out to me? In most cases we find ourselves thinking God is silent towards us, we cry out to Him all day, all night, all year, forgetting that His answer will always be the same regardless of our various circumstances. My beloveds, I have come to remind you once again that He has already given us the weapons. Moses had the staff, but he did not know he could use it to separate the water, so he cried out to the Lord. In the same way we have the weapons of our warfare. You should as well pick up your staff and and speak straight into whatever you’re facing. The staff in your hand is all the weapons described in Ephesians 6:12-18.
If you believe in Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior you have the authority over all powers of darkness Luke 10:19, but this authority doesn’t come freely. We must be blameless and walk in the ways of the Lord, obeying all his commands. We might have the weapons at our disposal, but it will remain inaccessible to us no matter how loud we pray nor how long we fast if we are living in sin. The scriptures are clear, and they’ll never change no matter how long we choose to delay ourselves. Mathews 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away”.
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, or His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear (Isaiah 59:1-2, NKJV). What if the greatest journey you choose to embark on this year is walking away from your reckless living and turn to God with that broken heart confessing your sins, repenting and cleansing yourself in the Blood of Jesus. A journey of consecration and holy living. We are in the world, but we have not been called to live like the world. We are called to live like Christ who is the way and He gave a very good example for us to follow. For even he was victorious because he was obedient to His father’s will. If Jesus had to be obedient to be connected to the Father, nothing makes us different or special.
I have seen it work in my life and I am confident it will work in yours too. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us (1 John 5:14, NIV).
I hope you have been blessed!
